Oloid raised a $5 million Seed round for its facial recognition and biometrics AI tech that they claim will help employers create a more contactless workplace. This is is an interesting deal during a week where we saw IBM announce to halt all development of any facial recognition tech. Biometric scanners have long been used in workforce management for clock-in/clock-out, but the technology has come under fire over employee data privacy and how the data can be used, especially when combined with AI in talent-related functions.
