Investors love job board marketplaces. In the 2019 Global HR Tech VC Lookback Report, job boards once again attracted more VC than any other HR technology category. Netherlands-based Maqqie is the latest job board to raise VC in this crowded category, attempting to differentiate with labor market data and a matching algorithm. Those things don’t make a job board unique in this climate where matching algorithms are de rigueur and global labor market data is brokered across the HR tech ecosystem. It doesn’t mean Maqqie won’t be successful – geographic focus and industry/job type specialization can go a long way to ramping early traction.
