Fuel50,  the “career pathing” app that claims to be the “future of work,” has raised $14 million to improve employee engagement and experience by helping employers provide a visible career path for its teams. We expect Fuel50 and other firms in this category to get increasing competitive pressure from two sides: 1) entrenched talent management, learning, and HR platforms and 2) emerging conversational interfaces – apps leveraging natural language processing and a variety of messaging and collaboration interfaces, not requiring employees to develop a career-oriented mindset or proactively log into a system to manage their paths.
