Brazil-based Rocket.Chat Raises USD $19 Million for Open Source Employee Comms and Collaboration

Brazil-based Rocket.chat announced a $19 million Series A for its open source employee communications and collaboration app.

As work continues to get more distributed and remote, this HR tech category has seen increased attention from both tech providers and investors. In all categories, HR technology providers have moved quickly to integrate communications into platforms like Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Facebook @Work while also developing their own communication and collaboration features.

The communications and collaboration category saw $821 million of VC invested globally in 2020 making it the top category for HR tech investment last year. In total $5 billion was invested globally in HR technology. Get the full report, here.
