Australia-based SafetyCulture announced a USD $73 million Series D round of venture capital for its workplace safety inspection and observation app. This brings its total raised to $222.8 million. The company also announced a valuation of $1.6 billion making it the latest work tech provider to reach “unicorn status.”

The company was launched in 2004. While the COVID-19 pandemic and the scramble to return to the workplace safely certainly accelerated interest in the app. The company has been developing its product and model well before COVID reporting to have now surpassed 100 million completed safety inspections via its flagship product, iAuditor.

The company plans to invest to continue its growth momentum and in product development. “This new funding allows us to continue that momentum,” said Founder and CEO, Luke Anear.  “It also allows us to invest in the development of our platform which will ensure the information captured by workers can easily be acted upon to improve quality, efficiency, and safety in the workplace.”
